A man from Southport has been named in a recent drug bust as part of Operation Venetic, an ongoing operation into criminals using encrypted mobile devices, commonly known as EncroChat, to source and supply drugs up and down the country. The suspect, George Powell, 40, of Hillside Drive, Southport, was arrested yesterday (Thursday, July 21).
Powell was then charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs (heroin and cocaine) and class B drugs (cannabis). He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday, July 23.
